A Break to Storm

Ok so we all have those days where it’s work work work and we forget to look at the clock. Only then do we notice that eight hours have gone by and we’ve sat at the same desk the whole time. Today was one of those days for me. I finally shook off the dust, took a step outside…and wow.

It was a little warm and then I noticed something in the air. It started off with a cool breeze, a little cloud cover, and then all at once there was a storm rolling in. Watching the storm roll in seemed like the right thing to do.

Although I was under cover for the downpour, the lightning and the thunder got extreme so I booked it indoors. *sigh* What a hard life on the top of a mountain. Totally kidding! I am feeling very fortunate yet again today. Hope you all had a good one and took a little break for yourself – whatever that may mean for you.

Cat Lady? Maybe…

As some of you may or may not know I was recently house sitting up in the mountains. I not only live in the mountains myself (and spend times of the year at the foothills for school) but I have friends and family in higher altitude as well. Yesterday, however, was my last day in the house that I was watching and had to say goodbye to my new furry friends. I think it’s at this point where I start to sound a little insane…

Am I a “Cat Lady” you ask? Perhaps. I love all types of animals and woodland creatures but befriending cats at homes (and parties) just seems to happen. These little ladies were a little crazy too and chillin’ with them outside became normal for us. I wanted to share a few shots of them. Does anyone else have outdoor cats that go a little crazy and hunt down hummingbirds??

Ballsy little creatures I tell ya.

Take Some Time

Some simple shots of today. Sometimes when things are hard and times get a little trying it’s best to just step outside. Go for a walk, see some wildlife, and embrace the fresh air. Hope you all are having fantastic weekends!

Beauty Blerg

Well I have to admit something. I’m not a huge beauty blogger/vlogger. That said, in the past six (plus) years it’s become very obvious to me what’s important when it comes to my makeup and skincare. If you know me you know I can talk till I’m blue in the face about effective products that are earth friendly at the same time. Yes, you can be chic and green at the same time.
I gravitate towards things that are more natural in the beauty world. I’m not saying 100% of my items are 100% organic, natural, green, vegan, etc. But the majority of them are. Drugstore or Sephora, Ulta or online-I’m always into researching products before I buy them. I say this all because I want to do a slur of posts on this topic. Not because I think I’m some fabulous human being, but because I want to share and connect, start discussions, and post up my experiences on that end as well.
Cheesy as it may be it’s just something I want to incorporate into my blog. If it’s not your cup of tea, please keep scrolling. I can bet it won’t be your “typical” beauty experience though. Hope you enjoy!

For Travel, For Lazy

Alright alright alright. So here’s my first official bit of beauty on this blog on specific products. What’s the greatest part of this you ask? TRAVEL AND BEAUTY COMBINED. I’m a firm believer that if you’re on a mission or on the move to do some extreme adventurous activity you won’t have time to mess with makeup (or removing it for that matter). So here are some products I love to throw in my bag, or keep in my bathroom for when I’m too lazy to bother.

First product: The Korres Pomegranate Cleansing Wipes. I have used these for a few years now and travel with them as well as use them when I’m at home. There are 25 in a packet and after having one packet for over a year, forgetting about it, and finding it-it STILL wasn’t dried up. So that was awesome. They are cleansing, smell awesome, and leave your skin feeling awesome. Key ingredients- pomegranate extract to reduce pore size and provide antioxidants, and vitamin e which is a powerful antioxidant that provides moisture. Two thumbs up for sure.

Second product: Tarte Fresh Eyes- Maracuja waterproof eye makeup remover wipes. Phew what a name. First off, I haven’t been using these nearly as long as the others but I like that they are gentle, biodegradable, and actually work. The maracuja in the wipes are rich in fatty acids which are so good for the sensitive skin around the eyes. Vitamin C is also great in these because they rebuild and replenish the skin. Grapeseed oil, papaya extract, and pineapple extract are also some great ingredients. Take care of your peepers people!

Hope you found this helpful. I also did a review on some products not long ago on my youtube channel if you’re more of a visual person with these things. http://www.youtube.com/courtneylauber is where you can me!

Remember, you can be adventurous and take care of your skin on the run!

Waking up With a Purpose

I find that mornings and I have a difficult relationship. One that I have to work on constantly. Compromise is usually involved with the occasional dash of rage.

Ok moving on from that dull metaphor.

What makes my mornings easier? Waking up and be excited about just one thing. JUST ONE. It turns my whole day around. Gratitude is something I like to practice as often as possible throughout the day but in the mornings it’s especially helpful. So a little piece of advice if you have trouble with the early AMs-just pick one thing to be happy or excited about. I don’t care if it’s that you like the activities set out for the day or you like the way the sheets feel on your legs. Maybe it’s something greater like the sheer fact that you’re alive. That’s great!

I hope this helps and you all can relate to me feelings on this. This morning I woke up with a purpose and the feeling that although there is sadness and loss in our world, there is also light and gain.

“Back to School”

Ah yes. The dreaded times of summertime rolling to an end. When I was younger I had mixed feelings about this time. I loved getting school supplies and being perfectly organized but there was something about it all that just seemed wrong. Today not much has changed.

Of course, as a college student I should want to get back with all my friends, the parties, and all the sports games-right? Well not exactly.

Back to school is a little iffy for me this time. I feel like I hardly got a taste of summer. Like there’s too many summer nights without homework that I need to partake in before going back and facing the final year. Maybe you are with me in this. School, courses, professors, term papers…I just am not as excited as the average senior.

Don’t get me wrong though, I’m pretty pumped about my new backpack.
